Colorado Buffaloes Classic Buffs Women's Tee
The Buffaloes got their permanent nickname in 1934, when the CU student newspaper, Silver & Gold, sponsored a national contest to find a new name. When the newspaper declared “Buffaloes” the winner, several other similar nicknames came about, including the Bisons, Golden Buffaloes, Golden Avalanche, and (of course) the Buffs.
